New Volvo S80 and V70

February of this year will signal the introduction to the market of the newest luxury sedan from the world's leader in automotive safety - Volvo. The luxury vehicle is the 2007 version of the company's best selling Volvo S80. The car, just like its predecessor, promises to give the best safety features available in any vehicle out there. Along with that, the vehicle also is expected to come bearing the high quality of performance that can be expected from a Volvo. The Volvo S80 will be up against some tough competition like the Audi S6, the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz' E-Class. The competition may be tough but the car packs a really great performance and an even luxurious interior so as to be a serious competitor in their class.

The interior design of the car shows off the "Scandinavian luxury" design concept which shows the company's loyalty to its roots. The entire concept is based on the simplicity and functionality of the interior which in reality gives the interior a very luxurious feel that only Volvo can offer. The wood grain strip paneling looks immaculate and very much in tune with the rest of the interior. Controls and handles inside the vehicle are designed to be attractive yet also very functional. One such design is the functional graphic which can be found at the center of the climate controls that allows the occupant to choose the direction of airflow through its stylized head, torso and legs.

Buyers can opt for the trim package which includes a V8 engine for the Volvo S80. Such an option allows the company to be capable to drive the car against the best in its class. The quad-cam, 32-valve, 4.4-liter V8 engine can churn out 311 units of horsepower. The powerplant transfers the power of those 311 horses to all the four wheels of the car for this car has an all-wheel drive configuration. The configuration gives the car a better traction especially during nasty bouts of weather. The power finds their way to the wheels via a six speed automatic transmission that provides a smooth transfer of gear ratios and can thus give the car a decent acceleration. The precise engineering of the gearbox allows the car to go from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in just 6.5 seconds. The car's engine is also equipped with a Volvo oxygen sensor to increase its fuel efficiency by keeping the air and fuel mixture at the standard combination

Thanks to a few minor tweaks, Volvo has managed to further reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel efficiency on its S80 and V70 DRIVe models from the 2009MYs 129 g/km and 4.9 lt/100 km (48mpg US) to 119 g/km and 4.5 lt/100 km (52.3mpg US) on the 2010MYs respectively.

Both cars continue to use a 1.6-liter diesel with 109HP and 240Nm of peak torque that's hooked up to a five-speed manual gearbox.

However, Volvo's engineers employed a smart battery recharging system that 'forces' the alternator to charge the battery only when the engine is operating at low load (e.g. when driving downhill), while they also redesigned the tensioner and alternator pulleys.

"Smart battery recharging is the most important measure," says Ulf Nordström, Technical Project manager at Volvo Cars.

"It is primarily thanks to this that we have dipped below the 120-gram level that gives car owners tax breaks and other benefits in a number of European countries. What is more, one might say that we offer the normal driver one free tank of fuel a year," Nordström added.

The Swedish automaker said that the reduction in fuel consumption from a combined 4.9 lt/100 km to 4.5 l/100 km means that someone driving 15,000 km a year will save 60 liters of diesel or as Nordström put it, one fuel tank.

Volvo did not disclose any performance figures for the updated 2010MY S80 and V70 DRIVe, but just to get an idea, the 2009MY S80 DRIVe accelerates from standstill to 100km/h in a claimed 12.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 118mph or 189 km/h.

We say that, while any efforts to improve CO2 emissions and fuel consumption are more than welcome, fitting a puny 1.6-liter diesel engine in cars of the size and weight of the S80 and V70, isn't exactly pioneering anything new...

All New 2011 Audi A3 Hatch, Cabriolet and S3-Sportback(blue color)

The Audi A3 features a two liter turbo-charged engine that makes the car a nimble and quick performer. The turbo-charged engine runs on premium unleaded gasoline, and fuel is is inducted into the engine via a direct injection system. This powerful engine is mated to a six speed manual transmission. The engine produces two hundred horsepower at five thousand one hundred revolutions per minute; the engine produces two hundred seven pounds of torque at one thousand eight hundred revolutions per minute. These performance figures make this engine one of the most powerful available in a small car. The engine also features four valves per cylinder, in addition to the aforementioned turbo-charger.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the turbo-charged engine returns twenty-one mile per gallon in city driving and thirty miles per gallon in highway driving. Audi has held over from the 2009 model the all wheel drive system, although the all wheel drive system is available only on the base two liter engine without the turbo-charger. The other major change from the 2009 model year is that Audi has decided to drop the six cylinder engine as an option on the A3.

The 3.2 liter six cylinder was a smooth and powerful performer, producing two hundred and sixty-five horsepower. The negative aspect of that engine was that it returned only fourteen miles per gallon in city driving. Audi has elected for the 2010 model year to not make any major changes to the A3, but rather make the A3 a roomy, sporty wagon that is able to return good fuel economy in an attractive package.

Along with the updated 2011 TT Coupe and Roadster, and Q7 SUV, Audi also announced model year changes for its A3 range that includes the three door hatchback, five-door Sportback, Cabriolet and the sporty S3 hot hatch.

You'll probably have a hard time noticing the differences, but Audi says that on the 2011 A3s, the single-frame grille element and trims on the B-columns are painted in high-gloss black, the lower air inlets have chrome struts, the exterior mirrors are revised and there are chrome strips in the door handles (except on the S3).

A new rear diffuser insert, the tinted tail lamps on the three-door version, an updated line of alloy wheel designs and the addition of four new paint finishes (Volcano Red, Dakota Gray, Amethyst Gray and Scuba Blue) complete the exterior upgrades.

Inside, key changes are limited to the gray background of the dials, the revised flat-bottomed leather sports steering wheel with trim ring, a new selector lever for the S tronic gearbox, the black rings on the air vents and a high-gloss trim for the optional navigation system plus.

Engine options remains the same and include five gasoline and four diesel units, all turbocharged with direct-injection technology, ranging in output from the 90HP 1.6 TDI and 105HP 1.2 TFSI to the S3's 265HP 2.0 TFSI.

The modestly refined A3 range goes on sale in Europe this summer.

2010 BMW 7-Series

When it comes to the dash, the car comes equipped with a standard state-of-the art Bose surround sound system crafted around the interior sound acoustics of the vehicle. The enables the car to move at high speeds and do do extremely quietly while at the same time delivering CD music sound that resembles that of a studio. The front panel also comes with a navigational system that is able to use GPS technology to guide the vehicle through any major city in the world.

The Series 7 can be purchased in any number of ways. One of the best ways is to visit a local BMW dealership. The Internet or the local yellow pages can unearth valuable information regarding the location of BMWs in your immediate locale. This is ideal because you want a place where you can actually examine the Series 7 manually and if possible be able to conduct a test drive.

EBay motors is also an extremely viable place to shop for a used BMW Series 7. This is because this has now become one of the most reliable sources of used luxury motor vehicles on the planet since Ebay Motors is now one of the largest dealerships in the world.

2010 BMW 7-SeriesIt's '2010MY' time for BMW that has announced plenty of upgrades for its range-topping sedan model, following yesterday's reveal of the new 316d and 2010 1-Series Coupe and hatchback lineup. For the 7-Series, the new model year brings a new straight-six diesel engine with 306 horsepower on the 740d, a BluePerformance technology pack for the 730d, an M Sport package that's available for the entire range and the introduction of all-wheel drive variants for the first time on the 7er.

2010 BMW 7-SeriesBeginning with the new 740d that will arrive at the firm's European showrooms this autumn, this model is equipped with a revised version of BMW's 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six diesel engine making 306 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and a peak torque of 600 Nm or 442 lb-ft at 1,500 rpm. The previous version of the same engine that is found on the 335d and other models produces 286HP at 4,400 rpm and 580Nm or 428 lb-ft at 1,750 rpm.

The 740d accelerates from a standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in 6.3 seconds and has a electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h or 155 mph. It consumes on average 6.9 lt/100 km in the EU test cycle (equal to 40.9mpg UK or 34mpg US).

2010 BMW 7-SeriesFor the 730d with its 245HP 3.0-liter straight-six diesel BMW is introducing the optional BluePerformance package that ads an NOx storage catalyst that reduces nitric oxides to the standard not coming into force until the introduction of EU6 in the year 2014. Furthermore, modifications on the engine and the drivetrain reduce the average fuel consumption of the 730d determined in the EU test cycle to 6.8lt/100km or 34.5mpg US.

Starting with the 2010MY, BMW's electronically controlled all-wheel drive xDrive system will be available for the first time on the 7-Series, initially on the 750i and 750iL that are both powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 petrol developing 408 horsepower. BMW claims that the front-to-rear power split is 40:60 with up to 80 per cent of the drive power going to the rear axle in a bend.

2010 BMW 7-SeriesLast but not least, the 2010MY 7-Series premieres the introduction of a new M Sport package available for all engine variants with both normal and extended wheelbase. On the outside, the 7-Series gains an aerodynamics package as well as additional chrome trim on the specially designed front and rear aprons, dark window surrounds and 19-inch or optionally 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design featuring different-sized tires front and rear. The electronically controlled BMW Dynamic Drive also comes standard in the M Sports Package for the 7 Series.

Inside, the M Sport pack adds sports seats with leather upholstery, an M leather steering wheel with multi-function buttons and an M footrest while buyers can opt for roof lining in anthracite and trim in fine-grain aluminum.
